Villa Vitigliano in Chianti

Vitigliano Relais & Spa is a magical hideaway in the heart of the coveted Chianti region between Florence (25km) and Siena (35km). Its unique hilltop position offers uninterrupted, breathtaking 360-degree views and postcard views from every room in the property.

It’s like a classic Tuscan still life: rolling hills, graceful cypresses, olive groves and endless Chianti vineyards. You will be transported to a world of peace and balance with nature and yourself in this place of tranquillity and contemplation.

The estate was home to the famous Verrazzano family for 400 years and has a history stretching back over 1000 years. Today, Vitigliano is one of the most exclusive estates in Tuscany, with 8 suites, a private spa and its own chapel. It took seven years to restore the buildings, courtyards, terraces and five acres of olive groves and holm oak woods in a way that reflected the character of the place, the need for sustainability and the strict conservation requirements. The German owners have managed to provide all the rooms with state-of-the-art technology and a high standard of living.

The exclusive interior design style and luxurious furnishings have already been praised in international magazines such as ELLE Deko and AD Architectural Digest. With subtlety and nobility, the owner has created her own Vitigliano style. The masterful combination of classic chic, art and modern elements means that every room is a surprise.

Following the restoration, the success story of Vitigliano Relais & Spa as a boutique hotel began in 2015.  Numerous awards (e.g. Hideaway of the Year 2015, World Luxury Award 2017) and press publications (e.g. GEO Saison, BUNTE, New York Times, Conde Nast Traveller) accompanied the first years.

After 5 years, Vitigliano is now opening up to a new era and focussing even more on absolute privacy and exclusivity. Vitigliano Relais & Spa will open its doors in 2019 as a private residence with 9 suites for an exclusive stay for multi-generational families and groups of friends. The extensive facilities also provide the perfect setting for private and corporate events. The accumulated knowledge of a successfully managed hotel and the private management of the owner will be retained.

THE RESIDENCE

• The main house (Gründer-Villa) on the ground floor houses the 60 square metre living room with lounge area with fireplace, the bar and dining area, as well as a professional high-tech kitchen.
• On the first floor are 4 individually furnished 2-room suites with their own marble bathrooms
• The main house leads to the historic inner courtyard with access to the fitness room and a further 2-room/2-bathroom suite at ground level (in the tower villa), as well as to the historic wine cellar
• Opposite the main house is the bathhouse with Turkish bath and relaxation area, the wellness house for treatments and the fully equipped outdoor kitchen.
• In the tower (with access from the other side of the building) there are a further 2 spacious 2-room suites and a maisonette suite.
• On the rosemary and olive tree-lined path to the master loft suite you will find the historic chapel from the 15th century.
• The conservatory is located between the main house and the master loft suite

THE SUITES

• Suite 1: Master loft suite - 70 sqm over 2 levels with its own garden/sun plateau with curtains, sun loungers and sunset views. On the lower level are the large living room and the luxurious marble bathroom with XL rain shower and free-standing bathtub with views of the countryside. An internal staircase leads to the gallery with the heavenly sleeping area.
• Suite 2: Tower Suite 1 - 48 sqm with living room, bedroom with free-standing artificial stone bathtub and bathroom with rain shower. All 3 rooms offer marvellous views of the Chianti hills.
• Suite 3: Tower Suite 2 - 55 sqm over 2 levels - living room with lounge armchairs, dining area, integrated show kitchen and fireplace. Marble bathroom with XL rain shower. Internal staircase leads to the bedroom. This room is the highest room in the property and offers spectacular views of Panzano Castle.Tower suites 1 and 2 can be connected with a door. The tower itself dates back to the 14th century and the rooms offer 360 degree views of the vineyards, cypresses and olive groves.
• Suite 4: Founder Villa - 45 sqm - bedroom, spa bathroom with free-standing artificial stone bath, chaise lounge day bed, rain shower. Both rooms offer a marvellous view of the Chianti countryside.
• Suite 5: Founder's Villa - 38 sqm - bedroom, living room with chaise lounge, marble bathroom with XL rain shower - all 3 rooms with views of the countryside.
• Suite 6: Founder's Villa - 59 sqm - bedroom with integrated marble bathroom with XL rain shower, small single room - accessible via an internal staircase. All rooms with picture-book Chianti view.
• Suite 7: Founder Villa Suite 4 - 30 sqm - bedroom, marble bathroom with XL rain shower - accessible from the private entrance area. All windows overlook the marvellous scenery of the Chianti hills.
• Suite 8: Tower villa - 32 sqm - 2 bedrooms each with a marble bathroom with free-standing artificial stone bath or XL rain shower. The 2 bedrooms have a connecting door and each has access to the inner courtyard. All windows overlook the Chianti Wonderland.
• Suite 9: Founder Villa - 20 sqm - Bedroom with en-suite bathroom

All suites are individually decorated and offer the same high standard with individual air conditioning and heating, flat screen LED TV, iPod docking station, WLAN Internet, safe, 180 cm box spring bed with luxury topper, bed linen made from Egyptian cotton, ERBARIO TOSCANA care products made from local natural ingredients.

OUTDOOR

• Vitigliano extends over 5 hectares of land and offers a variety of areas for socialising, fun and relaxation. The various areas and buildings of the estate are connected by stone and gravel paths - framed by fragrant rosemary and olives.
• Pool area - stone steps lead to the magnificent 12 metre pool (depth 1.20 to 2.50 m) - surrounded by 8 covered double day beds with curtains and 8 sun loungers.
