Franschhoek is a picturesque town. It has a distinctly French heritage. It is dedicated to the creation and enjoyment of local artisan produce and fine wines in its many restaurants and wine estates. You can also travel through some of Africa's most beautiful and fertile landscapes in the Cape Winelands. Stroll between the wineries and discover Franschhoek's illustrious winemaking history, with the architecture and landscape of the oldest family wineries more than justifying a visit.
The bustling village of Franschhoek with its art and antiques, chocolatiers and cheesemongers lies beyond La Residence. At the same time, La Residence offers peace and tranquillity in the midst of its own vineyards.
Situated on 30 hectares of private estate, La Residence sets the standard for luxury accommodation in South Africa's famous Cape Winelands. La Residence is surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards, olive groves and plum orchards. Sparkling Indian chandeliers hang from the vaulted ceiling of the main house. Original artwork and huge mirrors adorn the walls. Elegant antiques and exquisite flowers create a sense of style and sophistication. Spaciousness and personal service provide the ultimate in luxury.

Inspired by the wide selection of fresh produce grown on the hotel's own farm, chef Gregory Henderson creates ever-changing seasonal menus that appeal to every palate and pair perfectly with the wine list compiled by the sommelier.

La Residence presents a host of activities to enhance your relaxation and enjoyment. Unwind in the villa’s magnificent infinity pool or visit one of the award-winning restaurants in the village. Enjoy a private cheese or wine tasting at one of the surrounding estates by appointment.
For the outdoorsmen, they can arrange a round of golf, trout fishing, quad-biking, helicopter trips, paragliding, hot-air ballooning or a horseback tour of the surrounding wine farms. A more sedate excursion is the horse-drawn carriage ride through the local village and vineyards.
The courtyard, with a capacity of up to 120 people and breath-taking mountain views, is the perfect venue for weddings and other functions.
